EfficientIP launches SOLIDserver DNS Cloud

First DDI solution provider to utilise Amazon Web Services Route 53 for cloud-based DNS.

EfficientIP has launched SOLIDserver DNS Cloud, to enable on-premises and cloud DNS infrastructures to be managed from a single management console. It is the first developer to fully integrate Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) Route 53 within its DNS security solution.

“The launch of SOLIDserver DNS Cloud is the latest stage of our on-going strategy to help companies mitigate the increasing number of potentially crippling attacks on DNS servers,” said David Williamson, CEO at EfficientIP. “AWS’ DNS Anycast feature offers the highest level of performance and resilience, with a service level agreement of 100 per cent. It is scalable, simple to deploy, cost effective, flexible and very secure. ”

DNS Cloud is the third innovation in six months to be launched by EfficientIP for its SOLIDserver DDI appliance suite; Hybrid DNS Engine, which combines three DNS engines to mitigate Zero Day Vulnerabilities was launched in February 2014 followed by DNS Blast in June, the world’s fastest DNS server, which supports up to 17 million queries per second to thwart a DDoS attack.

The combination of AWS cloud-based approach with on-premises DNS management provides even greater protection against DDoS attacks for businesses. AWS will ensure 100 per cent availability to its Route 53 DNS Service, which is particularly important at a time when the number of cyber attacks is steadily growing. Symantec reported a growth in cyber attacks of 42 per cent last year alone and according to Forrester over 50 per cent of the most significant online operations experience five or more 2-6 hour DDoS attacks per month. A survey conducted in June 2014 by IDC and EfficientIP found that 72 per cent of respondents had been impacted by downtime, a compromised website or by having sensitive information publicly released.
