Appirio continues European growth

Appirio, a global cloud consultancy, has announced a number of high profile customer wins, a deepening executive bench and an expansion into Germany as the company increases its investment in Europe. Appirio, which is working with brands such as AstraZeneca, eBay, PayPal, Coca-Cola, Kaplan, Stryker and Xchanging to deliver strategic cloud transformation projects, recently expanded its footprint in the region by opening a development centre in Dublin, Ireland and an office in Munich, Germany. Appirio also announced it has appointed Tim Medforth as senior vice president and general manager of Appirio Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Tim joins Appirio after an extensive career with Accenture, where he held a variety of national and global leadership positions and managed large scale customer programs. He most recently sat on the Board of Accenture UK and Ireland. He will be responsible for managing Appirio’s EMEA business, taking over from Lori Williams, who will be moving over to manage Appirio’s emerging offerings globally.

“I’m really excited to be heading up EMEA in this fresh, fast growing and fun company,” said Tim Medforth, SVP and GM of Appirio EMEA. “After 25 years at Accenture it is clear that Appirio is redefining the professional services marketplace. The Appirio difference is all about great people, cloud enabled working and the ability to apply the talents of the [topcoder] crowdsourcing community to every client engagement. That’s very cool.”

The growth into Dublin and Munich will help Appirio better serve its expanding base of continental European and UK customers, as well as global customers that rely on Appirio as their trusted cloud partner. Appirio established its European presence in 2011 and has witnessed 100 percent year-on-year employee growth in the region.

In a 2014 report, research firm Forrester estimates the public cloud computing market will grow to $191 billion by 2020. With its 630,000 member [topcoder] community and Appirio’s own 900+ employees, the company brings a nearly limitless skill set to this rapidly growing market. This, combined with Appirio’s deep understanding of the way people work, can help organisations take fuller advantage of cloud technologies and a global talent pool to speed innovation and transform their business.

Tipico is an Appirio customer devoted to providing the best online gaming experience. Darryn Summers, Customer Experience Manager at Tipico added, “Tipico saw the need to develop customer support to improve the customer experience, and the move to Salesforce was a natural progression. Working with Appirio meant that the transition to Salesforce was effortless, and email and live chat were introduced in weeks. The project was well handled and support was excellent. The knowledge gained by our team working with Appirio has been invaluable, and as an experience, the approach adopted by Appirio has been both innovative and refreshing.”
