Building on the momentum of the successful launch of version 2.0 of its integrated suite of storage, replication and web clustering software, HybridCluster, an early stage software solution provider to the cloud and hosting industry, unveils full details of the Super Dense Auto-Scaling platform within HybridCluster 2.0.

As with the Ultra High Availability platform, the Super Dense Auto-Scaling platform comes as standard functionality of HybridCluster 2.0.
Rather than strangling a site which is experiencing high traffic, HybridCluster’s Super Dense Auto-Scaling platform dynamically live-migrates other websites, applications, databases and mailboxes on that server to other servers in the cluster, with no downtime for any of the workloads. This enables individual workloads to be scaled up to a dedicated machine and back down again automatically. It also protects other websites or applications from being taken offline if a single website is being swamped with requests.

“In a multi-tenant environment it’s critical for a hosting company to maximise the number of workloads that are hosted on each server to reduce CAPEX and OPEX costs per customer,” said Luke Marsden, HybridCluster’s CEO and founder. “However unless you can provide auto-scaling then the risk is always that a single site that suddenly attracts significant traffic overloads the server causing all the sites to fail.”

HybridCluster provides this intelligent auto-scaling, at the same time as enabling significantly higher densities than other alternatives. And we also provide the ability to bill for this capability, thereby enabling profitable new product offers to be made to customers.

“Rather than the traditional manual or scripted migration of applications and reboots of VM’s, HybridCluster automatically live migrates workloads to other servers,” stated HybridCluster customer, Fabrizio Leo, CEO of FlameNetworks Enterprise Hosting Solutions. “It also provides the ability to bill for this capability on demand, using our innovative Compute Units”.

“Cloud and web hosting is increasingly competitive and is being commoditised. These businesses find it difficult to justify the cost of infrastructure to provide adequate protection against spikes in demand,” stated Charles Grimsdale, HybridCluster investor and advisor, partner at Eden Ventures, and former CEO & founder of OD2. “HybridCluster’s super dense auto-scaling enables hosters to provide and charge for scaling the resources available to any website or application in response to spikes in traffic. And it combines this with the ability to dramatically improve the density of their hosting.”
