The world’s first climate positive data centre is built in Sweden

In the city of Falun, Sweden, the world’s first climate positive data center is now being built. EcoDataCenter will also be one of the 13 safest in the world, meeting the highest security requirements with world-class performance. The initiator of EcoDataCenter is the energy company Falu Energi & Vatten in collaboration with the entrepreneurial company EcoDC AB. Schneider Electric will supply technology that will deliver energy efficient solutions and products to the project.

Bioscience and Industry UK collaboration to significantly reduce HPC energy consumption

The Genome Analysis Centre (TGAC) and high performance computing (HPC) hardware provider Optalysys Ltd have joined forces to develop and implement a revolutionary optical processing device that will perform large-scale DNA sequence searches for crucial genomic research with energy savings of over 95% per year. The new Genetic Search System (GENESYS) has been granted £0.5 million in funding from the government partner Innovate UK.

Mirantis collaborates with Google on Kubernetes and OpenStack integration

Mirantis has launched an initiative that integrates Kubernetes with OpenStack, letting developers deploy containers on OpenStack in minutes. The integration gives developers immediate access to Kubernetes clusters with Docker containers without needing to set up infrastructure. Developers will be able to seamlessly move entire environments between OpenStack private clouds and public clouds that support Kubernetes, such as Google Cloud Platform.
