Vertiv expands manufacturing capacity with new facility in Johor, Malaysia

Vertiv opens a new manufacturing hub in Johor to help meet the rising demand for AI and high-density computing infrastructure across Asia.

Vertiv has announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Johor, Malaysia. The facility is intended to expand the company’s capacity to serve growing demand for AI and high-density computing solutions across Asia, including Southeast Asia, North Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

The Johor site is located in an established industrial area in Southeast Asia and is intended to support regional manufacturing, engineering, logistics, and deployment services. Its location provides regional connectivity and proximity to technology and customer hubs.

Manufacturing at the facility focuses on thermal and power infrastructure solutions. This includes end-to-end manufacturing, assembly, and full-scale witness testing, allowing validation of high-density solutions before deployment. The aim is to reduce deployment risks and support faster capacity readiness for enterprise, cloud, and colocation environments.

The facility is expected to contribute hundreds of skilled jobs to the region once it reaches full operational capacity by 2027.

It includes capabilities for producing large-scale thermal management, power, and infrastructure solutions for AI and traditional applications, including Vertiv’s CoolChip coolant distribution units for liquid cooling.

Prefabricated power solutions such as the Vertiv Power Module and Vertiv Power Skid are designed to reduce deployment time by up to 50% compared with traditional builds. The Vertiv SmartRun integrates prefabricated overhead infrastructure and is reported to reduce on-site deployment time by up to 85% compared with traditional methods.

The site also includes a dedicated testing environment for validating liquid cooling and integrated power solutions under conditions designed to replicate customer site environments prior to deployment. This includes full CDU testing and simultaneous testing of multiple power modules and skids.

Through this expansion, the facility is positioned to support the delivery of scalable digital infrastructure solutions across the Asia region.
