UK executives report faster decision-making as AI adoption grows

UK executives face rising pressures from AI-accelerated decision-making, grappling with the demand for speed and the need for real-time insights.

Recent research indicates that more than 90% of UK business leaders have seen an increase in the speed of senior decision-making over the past three years. A survey of 200 UK CEOs, managing directors, and C-level executives also found that many are experiencing increased pressure to make decisions more quickly.

AI is identified as a factor in this shift, contributing to faster decision-making and changing expectations at senior levels. Sixty percent of respondents said they have less time to make decisions than a year ago, while 88% reported that major business changes are occurring more quickly.

At the same time, 59% said that colleagues’ use of AI has increased expectations for faster or near-instant decisions, adding to the pressure to operate at what is often described as “AI speed.”

Despite the increased pace, confidence levels are mixed. Around 61% of respondents said they find it difficult to act on fast-moving insights and trends, and 91% said they would feel more confident in their decisions if they had access to real-time insights.

As a result, 67% of those surveyed are planning to invest in real-time dashboards for senior leadership.

The findings reflect a broader environment in which technological and geopolitical changes are occurring more frequently, requiring leaders to respond more quickly while relying on both experience and access to timely data.
