DataVita, a UK data centre and cloud solutions provider, has secured a £44.9 million contract with Glasgow City Council to provide core compute and storage services. The agreement is designed to modernise the council's digital infrastructure to support public services.

The contract initially spans five years and nine months and includes options for extension up to a decade, with a total estimated value between £80 million and £110 million. Starting on 8th October 2025, DataVita will deliver services from its Tier-III certified data centres in Scotland, supporting the council’s IT operations.

Services under the contract include primary and disaster recovery environments, management of virtual and physical servers, scalable storage solutions, and backup systems with immutable copies for data security. These services will underpin more than 400 applications critical to daily public service operations.

The contract is expected to create up to 25 new roles, including apprenticeships, contributing to skills development and employment in Scotland’s technology sector.

As part of Glasgow’s move to a multi-source IT delivery model, DataVita will integrate its services with the council’s Service Integration and Management (SIAM) function to ensure coordinated service delivery alongside other partners.

Danny Quinn, Managing Director of DataVita, said the partnership will provide secure and resilient digital infrastructure for the council while supporting long-term planning and operational goals.

The project also aligns with Glasgow’s environmental objectives, with renewable and energy-efficient operations incorporated into DataVita’s services to support the council’s sustainability ambitions.
