Orion Entrance Control has announced the availability of Orion DataGuard, a fully automated, AI-enabled security screening room designed for hyperscale and enterprise data centre environments. As artificial intelligence drives growth in compute infrastructure, operators are placing increased focus on physical security around server capacity.

AI-driven expansion is increasing the number of facilities, access points and remote operations such as edge deployments and dark data centres. In this context, traditional approaches including manual inspections and legacy mantrap systems can be difficult to scale, leading many operators to consider more automated security models.

As operators deploy large-scale, gigawatt-class campuses, security teams are required to manage higher volumes of personnel, equipment and entry points while controlling staffing and operational costs across multi-building and multi-campus portfolios. According to John Bekisz, VP, Data Center & Critical Infrastructure Practice at Guidepost Solutions LLC, data centre security requirements are changing as growth and threat environments evolve.

Orion DataGuard combines functions such as ID verification, biometric authentication, weapons and digital-media detection, and AI/LiDAR-based tailgating prevention through Orion DoorGuard into a single automated entry workflow for data centre access points including data halls, secure corridors and infrastructure zones. Screening events are logged and monitored through Orion Infinity to support audit and compliance processes.

Steve Caroselli, CEO of Orion Entrance Control, said automation allows physical security to scale alongside infrastructure growth without requiring proportional increases in staffing or manual inspection processes.

The system integrates technologies from partners including Commend Americas, essentry, Rohde & Schwarz America, Suprema and Traka ASSA ABLOY, and is designed to support multiple partners per category to avoid vendor lock-in. The modular design supports deployment in new facilities and retrofits, allowing operators to standardise entry processes across expanding data centre portfolios.

Orion DataGuard is available for data centre operators supporting AI-driven infrastructure expansion, hyperscale environments and accelerated deployment schedules.
