Cloudflare acquires human native for AI data marketplace

Cloudflare has acquired Human Native, an AI data marketplace, to develop tools that help creators and publishers make their content available to AI developers.

Cloudflare, a connectivity cloud solution provider, has announced its acquisition of Human Native, an AI data marketplace that bridges creators with AI developers. This acquisition seeks to streamline the way AI developers access and discover requisite data, allowing creators and publishers to better monetise and optimise their data offerings to AI markets.

Human Native's team brings expertise, fuelling Cloudflare's ambition to construct a strong AI-driven Internet economy. Their knowledge seeks to enhance existing content into indexable, valuable data efficiently priced and monetisable for creators.

The burgeoning AI sector is reliant on high-calibre content for both training and inference purposes. This introduces a decision-making phase for content owners, who must define their AI strategies amid escalating data demand—whether by entirely blocking access, fine-tuning content for AI, or offering it for purchase at a fair market value. The platform includes tools to help content owners navigate AI access and monetisation decisions.

Specifically, Human Native aims to support Cloudflare in crafting platforms permitting AI developers to locate, access, and procure reliable data resources via equitable and transparent avenues.

Matthew Prince, co-founder & CEO of Cloudflare, noted, "Content creators deserve full control over their work, whether they want to write for humans or optimise for AI." The acquisition helps demonstrate Cloudflare’s vision to develop tools that safeguard the open Internet while facilitating the next chapter of digital economic integration.

Human Native, founded in 2024, has risen with backing from UK venture firms such as LocalGlobe and Mercuri. With influence from tech companies like DeepMind, Google, Figma, and Bloomberg enriching their knowledge pool, Human Native advances the goal of equitable interactions between content creators and AI entities.

Co-founder & CEO of Human Native, Dr. James Smith, expressed, "Our mission has always centred on empowering creators with control and fair compensation for AI exploitations of their data. Collaborating with Cloudflare presents an opportunity of unprecedented scale to deliver impactful solutions."
