Mastercam strengthens Nordic presence with acquisition

Mastercam has expanded its Nordic operations by acquiring Advanced Mechanical Engineering AB, increasing direct customer support in Sweden and Norway.

Mastercam, a provider of CAD/CAM software and part of the Sandvik Group, recently announced its acquisition of Advanced Mechanical Engineering AB (AME) in Sweden. As a long-standing channel partner, AME brings decades of CAD/CAM experience. This acquisition is set to enhance Mastercam’s market presence in Sweden and Norway.

The acquisition integrates AME's regional knowledge and customer relationships directly into Mastercam, in hopes of enhancing customer support and service delivery in these pivotal markets. With this move, AME will be rebranded as Mastercam Sverige, supporting Mastercam’s provision of localised support.

Advanced Mechanical Engineering AB has served as a Mastercam partner in Sweden and Norway for over 30 years. By leveraging AME’s local expertise, Mastercam plans to offer tailored support and solutions that cater to customer needs in these regions. "This integration is about more than growth–it is about strengthening our connection to manufacturers across EMEA," said Stuart Adams, Regional Executive Director-EMEA at Mastercam.

This acquisition is intended to support Mastercam’s local customer support operations. Transitioning from a traditional channel partner model to direct operations provides access to technical expertise and seeks to support faster problem resolution. Moreover, the availability of customised training programs delivered by in-market specialists aims to provide manufacturers with solutions adapted to their specific requirements.

The strategic acquisition forms a part of Mastercam’s international approach, aligning with the company's broader objectives to combine organic innovation and strategic acquisitions. As part of Sandvik’s digital manufacturing portfolio, Mastercam offers connected manufacturing processes and support to manufacturers globally.
