Hornetsecurity unveils robust Teams protection enhancements

Hornetsecurity introduces AI-powered enhancements to its Teams Protection with rapid response tools tackling Microsoft Teams security threats.

Leading cybersecurity provider Hornetsecurity has rolled out significant enhancements to its Teams Protection solution. Powered by its AI Cyber Assistant, the new functionality specifically addresses the increasing threats targeting Microsoft Teams as an attack vector. These advancements aim to bolster defence mechanisms against the growing incidents of attacks via compromised accounts.

The latest features empower administrators with rapid response tools designed for seamless remediation of threats directly within the platform. This aims to drastically reduce the mean time security teams take to respond to incidents. The introduction of the auto-remediation feature addresses growing concerns about harmful content sneaking past unnoticed within Microsoft Teams, ensuring swift action against threats from a central, cloud-based Control Panel.

Daniel Hofmann, the CEO of Hornetsecurity, emphasised the importance of secure communication across organisations: Microsoft Teams has become the cornerstone of business communication and document sharing. Consequently, it has emerged as a primary target for cyber attackers. The new enhancements in the Teams Protection tool enhance companies' defences, streamline operations, and maintain business continuity.

Administrators are now armed with instant control and advanced remediation measures. Teams Protection swiftly scans all messages containing URLs, issuing warnings about suspicious links directly within conversations. Administrators can then take decisive action, managing threats from the Control Panel by deleting malicious conversations and blocking sender access.

Key benefits of the new features include:

  • An automated detection system for suspicious Teams messages received by end-users.
  • The capability for IT administrators to intervene in conversations and, if necessary, block a user to halt a threat.
  • End-user protection by identifying and warning about suspicious URLs in Teams messages.
  • A dedicated bot alerts customers of suspicious content, enhancing their tenant's security.

Hofmann stresses the necessity for comprehensive protection as sensitive business operations increasingly rely on Teams rather than traditional email. To tackle this evolving vulnerability, Hornetsecurity continuously advances its offerings.

As part of the AI Cyber Assistant toolkit, Teams Protection employs advanced AI to offer adaptive protection. Key innovations include:

  • Smart pattern recognition for identifying malicious content within URLs.
  • Machine learning algorithms evaluating more than 47 URL characteristics to detect threats such as obfuscation techniques.
  • Deep learning and computer vision models analysing images for phishing indicators, like brand logos and QR codes.

By leveraging cutting-edge AI, Hornetsecurity stands at the forefront of guarding against modern cyber threats, ensuring continual evolution and refinement of its capabilities.
