CrowdStrike announces intention to acquire Onum

CrowdStrike expands its Next-Gen SIEM capabilities with Onum, streamlining security operations and enhancing autonomous detection through innovative data management.

CrowdStrike has announced plans to acquire Onum, a leader in real-time telemetry pipeline management. This strategic move aims to transform Falcon® Next-Gen SIEM into a premier data foundation for agentic security and IT operations. The acquisition is set to enhance autonomous detection efficiencies while simplifying the onboarding process.

"Our Next-Gen SIEM is the engine that powers the modern SOC, and data is the fuel that makes the engine run," said George Kurtz, CEO and founder of CrowdStrike. "Onum is both a pipeline and a filter, which will stream high-quality, filtered data directly into the platform to drive autonomous cybersecurity at scale. This is how we stop breaches at the speed of AI while giving customers complete control over their entire data ecosystem – well beyond cybersecurity."

The Next-Gen SIEM technology empowers organisations to harness Falcon's native hyper-scalable data foundation, addressing complex security and IT observability issues. Amidst AI SOC transformation, Falcon Next-Gen SIEM emerges as a trailblazer, offering unique capabilities and cost benefits unachievable by traditional platforms.

Onum's Innovative Role enhances efficiency within Falcon Next-Gen SIEM with its proprietary, stateless in-memory architecture. Onum facilitates seamless onboarding, offering unparalleled speed and control over security and observability data. By integrating AI-powered detection with third-party data sources, Onum ensures rapid and pre-emptive identification of threats before data interacts with the Falcon platform.

The new alliance promises Breakthrough Capabilities across three critical dimensions:

  • Speed: Capable of processing up to five times more events per second in real-time, surpassing legacy batch methods.
  • Cost Efficiency: Implements smart filtering to optimise data storage, cutting costs by 50%.
  • Enhanced Performance: Achieves faster incident response, requiring less data ingestion overhead, resulting in swifter operations.

Data Migration Simplified addresses previous hurdles in SOC transformation. The Onum acquisition aptly tackles the data migration bottleneck, removing reliance on third-party tools by introducing native data streaming and in-pipeline detection mechanisms within the Falcon platform.

“Onum was founded on the belief that pipelines should do more than transport data, they should transform data into real-time intelligence,” said Pedro Castillo, founder and CEO of Onum. “By joining CrowdStrike, we can deliver this vision at unprecedented scale to accelerate SOC transformation on a global scale. I’m incredibly proud of what our team has accomplished in defining real-time telemetry pipeline management, and we look forward to bringing that innovation to the Falcon platform.”
