StorMagic and Supermicro expand server offerings for edge computing

StorMagic says that its SvHCI solution has been tested and validated with three Supermicro IoT SuperServers.

The variety of edge, IoT and traditional rack servers gives customers the opportunity to deploy and configure SvHCI as they require, with the software having been pre-tested on the ideal server that best meets each customer’s specific needs.

Introduced in 2024, StorMagic SvHCI is a full-stack HCI software solution designed for the enterprise edge, ROBOs and SMBs. SvHCI combines the virtualized storage capabilities of SvSAN with a StorMagic hypervisor, virtualized networking and management components. SvHCI can be deployed on a single server, or on two servers to enable high availability and eliminate downtime.

Supermicro’s IoT SuperServers support a wide variety of edge applications including multi-access, enterprise, 5G and others. The models validated by StorMagic include the SYS-220HE-FTNR - 2U Hyper with 6 NVMe/SATA bays, the SYS-210SE-31A - SuperEdge 2U3-Node UP front I/O short-depth server, and the SYS-110D-20C - 20-Core, 600W -48 Vdc redundant PWS, 1U edge platform.

“The SvHCI software stack was designed specifically for edge use cases and these environments need the fast, reliable and affordable servers that Supermicro is known for,” said Bruce Kornfeld, chief product officer, StorMagic. “StorMagic is seeing massive exodus from VMware in the industry which is fuelling the demand for SvHCI and the expansion of our hardware compatibility list with Supermicro will help us deliver what customers want.”
