Corning CleanAdvantage technology receives Data Centre Solutions Innovation Award

Corning’s proprietary technology recognised as Data Centre Physical Connectivity of the Year.

Corning's CleanAdvantage™ technology was crowned “Data Centre Physical Connectivity of the Year” at the 2021 Data Centre Solutions (DCS) Awards in London last week. This is the ninth consecutive year that a Corning product has been awarded.

Corning’s CleanAdvantage technology addresses the industry wide, resource-intensive cleaning process required to prevent end-face contamination – recognised as the most common cause of network failures and data packet corruption.

CleanAdvantage utilises proprietary cleaning technology for the entire connector ferrule, not only the connector end-face, and an optimised dust cap design to ensure a factory-clean connector remains clean and ready for installation when it arrives on site. Additionally, the technology eliminates the need to clean and scope MTP and LC Uniboot connectors prior to the first mating connection. As a result, it reduces installation time up to 17 percent and consumable costs up to 95 percent.

“We’re immensely proud and grateful of our continued success at the DCS Awards and the recognition from our customers and partners for CleanAdvantage,” said Cindy Ryborz, EMEA data centre marketing manager, Corning Optical Communications. “We strive to keep customers front-of-mind and we are thrilled with the benefits CleanAdvantage has already brought to data centre projects around the world.”

Phil Alsop, Editor at Digitalisation World, says: “Fibre connection contamination is a major challenge when it comes to data centre network installations. Corning’s innovative solution is a game changer when it comes to both speeding up and improving the reliability of network installations and lives up to its name, proving network installers with a clear advantage!”

Entries in the “Data Centre Physical Connectivity Innovation of the Year” category included a range of leading data centre technologies. Products were evaluated on their market impact, unique features and benefits to users.
