University of Edinburgh completes cloud migration

The University of Edinburgh has gone live with the first phase in migrating its core IT systems to the Oracle Cloud, becoming the first higher education institution in Scotland to do so. The three-phase implementation project is being delivered with the support of Inoapps, an award-winning global Oracle Partner.

From today the first stage of the university’s People and Money programme goes live in the Oracle Cloud, providing the initial implementation of its human resources (HR) system. Through the implementation of solutions, including Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud, Oracle Recruitment, Oracle Intelligent Adviser and HR Helpdesk, the university will deliver smarter ways of working and take advantage of data driven insights to enhance decision-making, supporting HR to become a strategic partner for the organisation.

 

Founded in 1582, the University of Edinburgh is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious higher education establishments.

 

The migration to the Oracle Cloud is a key aspect of the university’s Service Excellence Programme, a multi-million pound investment which aims to enhance key professional services operations to benefit students and staff. The project is focused on delivering more user-friendly processes and efficient systems across the university’s entire operations to support its work by modernising and simplifying policies, procedures, structures and business processes.

 

Phase two of the project follows over the course of this year and will include payroll and additional HR capabilities, whilst phase three will complete the implementation by delivering the new finance system, along with performance management, learning and talent management.
