Simplifying GDPR compliance

A new online platform designed to significantly reduce the administrative burden of GDPR and aid compliance has been launched.

The Compliance Space – which has been developed by data protection experts Byron Shirley and Paul Saunders at Black Penny Consulting – is an easy-to-use system that replaces time-consuming spreadsheets with intuitive software, providing a complete GDPR compliance solution, including real-time legislative updates to ensure compliance.

Developed specifically for specialist consultants and DPOs who support businesses with their GDPR requirements, the team behind the new platform identified a pressing need for a more effective and efficient management tool.

Byron Shirley, founder and principal consultant at The Compliance Space explains:

“We developed The Compliance Space as we realised there was a gap in the market for a simple, cost-effective GDPR alignment tool specifically designed with the consultant – rather than just the business end user – in mind.

"As consultants ourselves, with several years’ experience advising businesses on GDPR alignment, we wanted to offer our clients added value services through trusted partners. This is what The Compliance Space provides – an end-to-end compliance platform that not only reduces the administrative burden of GDPR, it helps significantly remove the risk of non-compliance by having everything managed in one place.  For example, a data breach can be extremely costly for a business – both financially and reputationally – so consultants can be reassured that when they partner with The Compliance Space, they are offering a robust and proven system to their clients.”

In contrast to other online GDPR tools, The Compliance Space provides a complete solution for one license fee.  With nine easy-to-follow modules – ranging from subject access requests to managing and evaluating data privacy impact assessments – captured on one central dashboard, it enables both consultants and their clients to monitor progress and alignment towards GDPR compliance.

Byron Shirley continues:

“As a partner of The Compliance Space, a consultancy will be fully trained on the platform, so it can confidently explain the myriad of benefits to clients.  It also provides access to data that will help inform its clients’ future GDPR strategies.

"GDPR is more than a one-time compliance issue – it requires a long-term approach.  With this in mind, the platform also provides invaluable ongoing updates, so a consultant can be confident that it follows the latest changes or amends to the legislation, or a company’s obligations.

“In short, the platform enables consultants to work collaboratively with clients to support them in operationalising GDPR in their organisations – something that will be particularly critical as we head into the post-Brexit 2020s - a decade where data integrity will become an even bigger point of trust for businesses.”
