Dell Boomi's cloud-based integration technology is helping ENGIE E&C, a utilities company, to reinvent its IT environment, automate its business processes and bring greater visibility to its data.
ENGIE, which spans 70 countries and five continents, is one of the world’s three largest energy groups. The Engie E&C business sought an integration platform - which could become the cornerstone of a much broader digital transformation project - to replace the business unit’s existing customer relationship management software, desktop applications, databases and workstations.
After considering numerous solutions, ENGIE E&C adopted the Boomi integration platform as a service (iPaaS) solution, to provide end-to-end visibility for each and every business process – such as contracts being signed or invoices generated – and tracking data as it is processed, integrated and distributed to other applications.
Working with local systems integrator, SWORD, the project resulted in the integration of 250 processes in the space of just eight months. ENGIE E&C’s applications are now connected via the Boomi platform, including highly critical applications such as its SAP invoicing system, two websites, customer databases, and Salesforce CRM. Each day Boomi now carries out between 50,000 and 75,000 workflows while helping process some two million documents.
No longer restricted by the constraints of legacy technology, ENGIE E&C’s modern IT environment has freed up the business to advance how it generates and manages energy for its 380,000 business customers.
Alain Abenhaim, cyber information security officer and systems architect at ENGIE E&C commented: “Thanks to Boomi’s flexibility, scalability and ability to reconfigure and reuse connections, we’re now in a far better position to manage market/industry changes, including the upcoming GDPR regulation and the deployment of smart meters in France and beyond.”
“We also have the speed and agility required to pioneer new ways of providing energy to our customers. Amid the backdrop of climate change and evolving energy technologies, this agility is a priceless asset to ensure we’re ready for whatever tomorrow brings.”
Derek Thompson, VP of EMEA at Dell Boomi concluded: “Our goal is to support our customers to break down the barriers of internal siloes and inefficiencies - repositioning IT as a real enabler of the connected business. This is exactly how we’ve worked with ENGIE E&C, putting technology at the heart of its distribution, customer engagement and business development strategies.”
Maxime Aprin, leader of SWORD’s Dell Boomi services centre added: “If you want your business to become more agile, you need technology to help you achieve this. Boomi’s cloud platform capabilities reside above all in terms of integration, flexibility, and forward compatibility - which played a crucial role in the success of ENGIE E&C’s digital transformation project.”
