Evolving Networks enhances Care Protect’s quality of service with SD-WAN

Evolving Networks is to supply Care Protect, a healthcare monitoring company, with SD-WAN technology across its multiple sites to provide a resilient and cost effective WAN solution which enables it to deliver excellent service to its customers.

Care Protect uses camera and audio technology to monitor the care of adults and children in hospitals and social care settings in the UK. This means the company has a requirement for high speed download and upload capabilities in order to stream video, as well as the need for increased resiliency at its multiple customer sites.

Andy Johnson, IT & Systems Director, Care Protect says: “We were experiencing connectivity dropouts at one of our hospitals a couple of years ago. Our health and social care teams monitor our hospitals 24 hours a day, so upload speed is key to our service. We needed to maximise the upload speeds without incurring the cost of leasing additional lines and also needed some proactive monitoring to make us aware if a site had a problem.

“Evolving Networks supplied a multipath Ethernet service which solved the dropout problem we were experiencing, and helped us implement the 1,500 cameras we had to roll-out to a private hospital group. By providing us with a robust SD-WAN solution, we were then able to reduce configuration times, access multiple sites remotely and solve any problems there and then. This also helped to increase productivity as my travel time was freed up significantly thanks to having the ability to access the sites remotely.”

The Evolving Networks SD-WAN delivers stable, low latency connections across multiple sites and can be easily integrated with public cloud. The company’s Intelligent Network Fabric (INF) is not dependent on any specific underlying connectivity, meaning that customers can realise immediate benefits by installing Evolving Networks EVX appliances to manage communications over their existing connections.

Nick Johnson, Evolving Networks CEO says: “We understand how important it was for Care Protect to deliver a truly resilient solution to their customers. Once we received the order in May, the first site went live in June. An important factor in the project was adding the ability to remotely monitor each connection and fix issues. Our eView Live platform does this - often we may be the first to notice any problems and we can alert our client and fix the issue. We are committed to providing connectivity solutions that are a business asset - freeing up our customers’ time to be more responsive to their marketplace.”
