Data centre gets a facelift

South West Communications Group has upgraded its data centre to enhance the only commercial facility of its type in Exeter.

The city-based hosting and disaster recovery experts have added caged areas to their data centre to cater for specialist customers’ security needs.

In addition, swcomms has expanded and remodelled the data centre meeting room.

This new space includes a secure floor-to-ceiling glass feature wall displaying a world connectivity map flanked by steel-effect wall cladding to transform the former entrance of the hosting and co-location rack space.

A new designer demonstration suite and breakout area has also been fitted along with a 75” HD screen for presentations complete with a Skype for Business video conferencing solution.

Brian Lodge, swcomms’ managing director, said: “Our commercial data centre has been leading the way in the region since 2001 and while we have kept pace with technology required to run this facility, it was time for a cosmetic facelift. The data centre has long been the pride of our business and it deserves a meeting room and the extra features that showcase its existence.

“In addition, our cloud and infrastructure team continues to grow to complement our highly accredited and ever-evolving expertise in managing and hosting our customers’ servers to ensure we provide the very best data centre experience in the South West.”
