Sudlows achieves Government Cyber Essentials Certification Status

Sudlows has successfully achieved full certification status under the UK Governments Cyber Essentials scheme.

The Cyber Essentials scheme was developed by the UK Government and industry to improve UK organisations’ IT defences and to emphasise a company’s wider commitment to internal cyber security. The scheme helps organisations to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of client and business data, stored on devices which connect to the Internet, e.g. Desktop and laptop PCs, Tablets and smartphones, all types of server and networking equipment.

Given recent events, with an unprecedented technical alert issued by the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) regarding malicious cyber activity, Sudlows are ideally placed to demonstrate its commitment to cyber security.

The scheme addresses the most common Internet-based threats to cyber security, particularly attacks that use widely available tools. The scheme considers these threats to be:

  • Hacking — exploiting known vulnerabilities in Internet-connected devices, using widely available tools and techniques.
  • Password guessing — manual or automated attempts to log on from the Internet, by guessing passwords.
  • Phishing — and other ways of tricking users into installing or executing a malicious software and application.

Cyber Essentials requires that the following controls are in place to achieve compliance:

·        Boundary Firewalls and Internet Gateways

·        Secure Configuration

·        Access Control

·        Malware Protection

·        Patch Management

By achieving this key accreditation, Sudlows offer reassurance to all clients and suppliers that they will secure your IT and data, held within the company and that it is protected against a potential cyber-attack.

Kfir Cohen, Head of IT, Sudlows commented;

“Sudlows has been at the forefront of designing and installing secure data centres and critical infrastructures for a number of years and our commitment to the Cyber Essentials certification scheme demonstrates our ongoing approach to supporting secure working practices across all aspects of our organisation.”
