The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) in Dublin has chosen the Arkivum PERPETUA solution as the cornerstone of their multimedia archive collection for protecting and promoting wider access to these resources by the public.

ITMA is home to the largest multimedia collection in existence dedicated to contemporary and historic Irish traditional music, with materials dating back to the eighteenth century. ITMA has selected Arkivum PERPETUA to provide an end-to-end managed solution which will ensure accessibility to its valuable sound recordings, still and moving images, manuscripts, printed materials and other irreplaceable assets, as well as safeguard and preserve them for the long term. ITMA has expanded over time and, now in its 30th year, is the premier centre for enjoying and studying Irish music.

Arkivum PERPETUA is a leading end-to-end digital preservation and archival secure safeguarding solution designed from the ground up to address the unique requirements and challenges of the Heritage, Libraries and Higher Education markets. Arkivum PERPETUA is a modular solution which enables the organization to select the functionality suitable with its current needs, and add others as requirements evolve. Arkivum PERPETUA uses open standards and sector-adapted open source components to optimize sector workflows and usability.

Grace Toland, Director of ITMA said: “We needed a solution that was both highly secure for safeguarding our valuable digital collection and that also provided our users with an engaging and easy to use search interface. We are delighted that Arkivum PERPETUA meets our needs and gives us the assurance that our collection will be future-proofed and widely available for the long term.”

Guy Yaniv, CEO at Arkivum added: “We are very proud to have ITMA join our Arkivum PERPETUA community. Serving ITMA is a big responsibility and the Arkivum team is committed to meet this challenge and help safeguard their priceless collections.”
