Helping cable installers slash capital expenditure in half

IDEAL Networks has launched Test4Less, a suite of products, services and payment methods to help companies installing and testing data cabling and networks to reduce capital expenditure, increase productivity and improve cash flow.

“Companies investing in multiple certifiers face the issue of increased expenditure and reduced ROI,” says Tim Widdershoven, Global Marketing Manager at IDEAL Networks. “We’ve also found that several businesses have invested in a new fleet of certifiers which now require an expensive upgrade to new models due to certifier discontinuation by the manufacturer.”

The range of Test4Less solutions has been specifically developed by IDEAL Networks to address the common frustrations of data cable installers and systems integrators and provide cost-effective solutions to help them overcome these challenges.

Cleverly mix test equipment – save time and money

The research showed that high capital expenditure for cable certifiers is an issue for many, as it reduces cash flow and offers a low ROI. We also discovered cable installers required a certifier such as a LanTEK® III on 25% of their cable installations typically and on the remainder a less expensive cable transmission tester, such as SignalTEK® CT or SignalTEK NT, could be utilised to provide proof of performance.

These 25% of cable installations include building specifications that require a cable certifier or if cable manufacturer warranties are required. With this simple approach, businesses could reduce capital expenditure on testers by up to 57%*.

Time and money can also be wasted where certifiers are shared between technicians due to their high cost. This approach removes the need for this, as companies can afford to equip every technician with a SignalTEK unit, reducing shipping requirements.

Manage maintenance and testing costs more effectively

Test4Less includes a new ‘Pay as you Test’ option to transform a certifier fleet from a capital investment into an operational expense.  Test credits for the LanTEK III cable certifier can now be purchased in batches (from 5,000 to 10,000 tests) and topped up as and when needed.  Businesses can opt for either a free on loan certifier agreement or to purchase the certifier with an additional initial up-front payment. It could cost just ?2,750 up-front for a new cable certifier with the new ‘Pay as you Test’ options.

To help protect data cable installers from unforeseen costs and to reduce downtime, IDEAL Networks has also launched the Sapphire Care Plan.  This includes a free annual calibration to maintain accuracy, free loan units during calibration to reduce downtime, free shipping to reduce costs and a selection of free replaceable accessories each year to reduce cost of ownership.

Transfer data in real time

Difficulties and delays transferring test data to the office can set back project completion and, in turn, payment.  Delays and additional costs can also occur where test data is lost and technicians must revisit the job site for re-testing.

To eliminate the issue of delayed and lost test results, the free IDEAL AnyWARE™ mobile app allows users to transfer data in real time from tests conducted on SignalTEK CT, SignalTEK NT or LanTEK III.  Data can be easily transferred to a user’s mobile device and shared with offsite colleagues straight away.
