Grafton Group invests in Managed Network Solution from Six Degrees Group

Grafton Group plc, the FTSE 250 building materials group, has chosen hosting and managed services provider Six Degrees Group to provision a group wide Managed Network Solution. The new service will be rolled out to 500 branch and head office locations in mainland UK, with Managed Internet access provided to all Grafton Group companies in UK and Ireland.

Grafton Group has run the majority of its UK data centre operations from Six Degrees’ Birmingham facilities for the past six years. The quality and stability of service has led to Six Degrees becoming a trusted partner of the building group.

The solution includes three key elements; Core MPLS Network, Managed Internet Access, and delivery of a Branch Network across the entire UK mainland business, enabling Grafton to continue its strategic IT investment program, update productivity, and modernize its infrastructure.

Nathan Bishop, Group IT Services Director at Grafton Group, said, “We have a long standing, strong and positive relationship with Six Degrees that has developed since we started using its data centre facilities. As our company has grown, our IT needs have become increasingly complex and our reliance on high levels of network bandwidth and resilience has increased. Six Degrees will provide us with a managed solution that will bring our network up to date and future proof it. Using the Six Degrees infrastructure allows our businesses to stay connected with no fear of overloading the systems or unwelcome downtime”.

David Howson, CEO of Six Degrees, said: “It is a pleasure to build our existing partnership with Grafton Group and to be their trusted UK network and data centre provider. With our own infrastructure at its core and our experts managing the service, this solution will safely and reliably underpin Grafton Group’s operations.”
