Mallon joins SSE Enterprise Telecoms with more than 30 years’ experience in the telecoms industry. Most recently he worked at Level 3, where he held several senior technical roles during a 12-year tenure, including Director of Network Implementation and Director of Architecture and Engineering (EMEA). While at Level 3, Mallon oversaw many large-scale network enhancements and was responsible for significantly extending the company’s European network reach.
As Chief Network Architect, Mallon will be responsible for defining, delivering and maintaining the technical architectures that will support SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ existing service portfolio as well as breaking new ground with the company’s forthcoming Network Function Virtualisation (NFV) and Software-Defined Network (SDN) based service delivery platform.
“When it comes to delivering first class customer experience, streamlining processes is key, but we firmly believe that technology provides the key to distinctive, disruptive service design and delivery,” said Mallon. “SSE Enterprise Telecoms has always had a great reputation for reliability and for customer service excellence; I am determined to see the innovative, appropriate application of advanced technology both maintain and improve those relationships with our customers as the business grows. Our current focus is on implementing a new, hugely scalable super-core for our network. In the coming months, we will be harnessing NFV and SDN to deliver distinctive superior services that provide customers with increasing levels of direct control. This new approach will help us to address new markets and expand our enterprise market share.”
Meanwhile, as Director of Service Delivery, Clark is responsible for all mainstream project, provisioning activities and service delivery activities. He is also managing a new major programmes team that will be accountable for the most complex customer projects and network service roll outs.
“SSE Enterprise Telecoms has certainly lived up to expectations,” said Clark, who joined the company earlier this year, following a 16-year tenure at Virgin Media, during which he led a number of management centres and field and project management teams. “The telecoms business has always played a fundamental role in ‘keeping the lights on’ for the wider SSE Group, and it’s great to see more and more businesses benefiting from our industry-leading capabilities. In my new role, I look forward to supporting this growth with a people-first approach to both staff and customers.”
Mike Magee’s new team is responsible for guiding and developing product roadmaps, and for building strategic partnerships with Systems Integrators. Magee was most recently involved in SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ fixed line network sharing deal with Capita plc, which allows both companies to share the physical network assets of the other for seven years.
Magee joined SSE Enterprise Telecoms from managed services provider, Selection Services Ltd., where he drove revenue growth and positioned the company for an acquisition. He added: “Having worked with a number of SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ execs previously, I was unsurprised to see such significant investment being made in technology. In partnership with Conrad, I look forward to developing and delivering our product suite with new technologies such as SDN and NFV, to ensure we continue to meet the ever-evolving needs of our rapidly growing customer base.”
“These latest appointments reflect a renewed focus on using innovative technologies to help us deliver distinctive customer experience,” said Colin Sempill, Managing Director of SSE Enterprise Telecoms. “With the business experiencing rapid growth – particularly in enterprise markets and systems integrator channels – and as we continue to invest strategically in our nationwide network, Conrad and Mike’s technical expertise when it comes to network architecture, service development and creative customer solutions will be invaluable. Meanwhile, Paul’s team will ensure we remain focused on delivering an industry-leading service, as we continue to expand our customer base.”
SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ continued network investment is being driven by increased customer demand, with Carrier Ethernet services growth of 56 percent in the last 24 months and Optical wavelength services up by 79 percent in the same period.
