Many enterprises, including 85 percent of Fortune 500 companies have embraced Azure AD as the identity platform for managing users and providing secure access to thousands of cloud SaaS and on-premises applications. Azure AD handles over 1 billion authentications daily to more than nine million directories. However, connecting the full set of legacy and custom on-premises apps to these environments can be challenging. This integration with Ping allows enterprises to expand SSO access to even more of their on-premises web applications. The result is seamless and secure single sign-on for all applications and all users on all devices and clouds, without the need for a VPN.
Ping and Microsoft will deliver an integrated solution of PingAccess and Azure Active Directory Application Proxy in early 2017 to enable secure access to a broad spectrum of on-premises web applications. Azure AD Premium customers can use the integration to connect up to 20 apps at no additional cost. For more than 20 applications, full PingAccess licenses may be purchased. Microsoft will also list PingFederate as an additional authentication option in Azure Active Directory Connect, along with Password Sync and Active Directory Federation Services, for customers who choose Ping Identity for federation to Azure AD.
The partnership delivers unmatched capabilities as compared to competitive solutions, most of which cannot connect to on-premises applications.
“This collaboration brings together two leaders in Identity to expedite enterprises’ digital transformation, and the way they connect users to mobile, web, on-prem and IoT apps,” said Andre Durand, CEO and founder, Ping Identity. “Ping uniquely provides Microsoft Azure AD customers with the ability to configure web single sign-on directly within their control panel.”
“Microsoft and Ping Identity will provide Microsoft Azure AD customers with a secure and seamless experience to access an expanded set of on-premises apps that they need to do their jobs,” said Alex Simons, director of program management, Microsoft Corp. “We’re already seeing rapid adoption among joint customers who are looking to create a safe and consistent single sign-on experience across their business applications.”
“Microsoft Azure AD is clearly the choice for the enterprise so this partnership with Ping Identity is a big move forward for global enterprises of all sizes,” said Garrett Bekker, senior security analyst, 451 Research, a preeminent information technology research and advisory company. “This collaboration squarely addresses secure access across all channels which a key value driver for winning businesses.”
