Cloudian has been included for the first time in the Gartner Critical Capabilities for Object Storage research report, published March 31. Cloudian achieved an overall use case product score of 3.98, within 2 per cent of the top score and among the top five of all vendors. The report assessed Cloudian HyperStore with an “excellent” rating of 4.1 for its capabilities in Performance, Resiliency, Security and Multitenancy. According to Gartner’s methodology, these critical capabilities are weighted heaviest among those the report measured.
“S3 has become the de facto standard not only for cloud storage but for all storage infrastructure where capacity, performance and manageability are critical factors, ” said Paul Turner, chief marketing officer and technology evangelist at Cloudian. “As the only object solution guaranteeing complete and native S3 APIs, Cloudian HyperStore is honored to be recognised for the value it delivers for IT organisations who need S3 standards-based object storage across a full spectrum of workloads, whether in a private cloud or hybrid model.”
The report, which analysed and rated object storage vendors across several critical capabilities and use cases, accorded Cloudian HyperStore an “excellent” rating of 4.0 for the Cloud Storage use case. The report rated HyperStore at 3.91 or better across all other use cases the report evaluated: analytics, archiving, backup, and content distribution.
Cloudian customer Schuberg Philis, an innovative IT solutions provider based in the Netherlands, values HyperStore’s unlimited scale, efficient data protection and simple, always-live data management for customers such as Rabobank, Eneco and Air France-KLM. Schuberg Philis has spoken positively about the benefits it has received from its implementation of HyperStore.
“Our customers rely on us to orchestrate their mission-critical services and ensure they are always available. We want to guarantee that their existing and new data are being managed efficiently and safely,” said Brenn Oosterbaan, mission critical engineer at Schuberg Philis. “We chose Cloudian HyperStore for our Data Management-as-a-Service platform because its 100-per cent S3 compatibility, multitenancy and multi-data centre capabilities provide us with maximum flexibility to manage the data needs of our diverse customer base. HyperStore is simple, yet robust and highly reliable native S3 object storage that enables us to manage and protect customer data, migrate customers or add them, and support unique customer storage requirements.”
Enterprises, particularly in areas such as life sciences, media and entertainment, financial services and the burgeoning ecosystem of the Internet of Things, are experiencing huge data growth. Cloudian’s business accelerated 300 percent in 2015, led by customers in these growth segments. The company doubled its customer base and recorded a fivefold increase in data stored within its flagship Cloudian HyperStore object storage platform.
“Cloudian HyperStore delivers the best S3 compatibility among all object storage products, guaranteeing customers full access to hundreds of apps and thousands of ISVs in the S3 ecosystem,” continued Turner. “HyperStore is also the most feature rich and secure solution, with hybrid tiering and comprehensive data lifecycle management, smart data analytics, role-based user permissions, DevOps-friendly management APIs and visual tools giving HyperStore users unmatched security and operational control to extract the maximum value from their business data.”
