The companies point to the most recent Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Disk Based Backup and Recovery, which states, “By 2018, 40% of organisations will augment traditional backup and recovery with additional products or replace their current backup application.” The report also states, “By 2016, 20% of organisations, up from 7% today, will employ only snapshot and replication techniques, abandoning traditional backup/recovery.”1
“Looking at the market, we want to enable our customers to easily manage the full data protection process,” said Jacob Broido, Chief Product Officer at INFINIDAT. “By integrating IntelliSnap from Commvault, InfiniBox ensures application consistent snapshots that can be leveraged for any business use case, including data protection, DevOps, analytics or reporting, while maintaining peak performance.”
InfiniBox has the ability to take hundreds of thousands of snapshots on a single storage platform without impacting performance. Snapshots can be taken at frequent intervals and kept on the system for any length of time, enabling users to have more granular recovery point objectives and recovery time objectives when compared to traditional data protection solutions.
“InfiniBox offers a robust snapshot capability that, combined with Commvault IntelliSnap, coordinates the process of snapshots and ensures that application data remains consistent,” said Don Foster, Senior Director, Solutions Marketing and Technical Alliances, Commvault. “With this integration, we’re helping to provide customers with the assurance their snapshots can be accessed quickly for recovery and even more importantly can be used for any business need that requires access to a copy of production data.”
