SeFlow has become the latest cloud provider to join the OnApp Federation, the world’s biggest public cloud. SeFlow is an Italian cloud provider and data protection specialist, and hosts more than 16,000 business customers on its OnApp cloud platform. By joining the OnApp Federation, SeFlow can now extend its cloud with more than 170 global locations, without having to invest in new datacenters, and offer local businesses low-latency hosting for applications and content in 43 countries on demand.
The OnApp Federation is global network of wholesale clouds that service providers can use to offer new locations, more scale and different price/performance options to their customers. Each member of the OnApp Federation can buy cloud infrastructure on demand, through a wholesale marketplace which provides full visibility of the performance and uptime of each location. SeFlow is using the OnApp Federation to extend its existing OnApp-based cloud service, and to sell capacity at its datacenters in Milan.
"We've seen growth of more than 200% since we started using OnApp," said Matteo Berlonghi, CTO of SeFlow. "To continue that growth we need to offer a wide range of cloud products and easy access to new regions - because what customers are looking for is an easy way to host applications and content in close proximity to end users, so they minimize latency and maximize performance. We can do that by building new datacentres, and investing heavily in new infrastructure - or we can do it on demand with the OnApp Federation, and add scale and reach without the risk of those capital investments not paying off."
"The beauty of OnApp is that it enables us to compete globally," said Marco Bram?, SeFlow Sales Director. "We can offer a wide range of cloud hosting products to local businesses, including virtual datacenter services, flexible virtual private servers, CDN, load balancing, DDoS protection and more. And we can extend our cloud to new locations, on demand, to help Italian businesses reach customers and users in new geographies. With OnApp, we’re helping to steer the direction of the Italian market, not just follow it."
Commenting on the news, Ditlev Bredahl, CEO of OnApp, said: "Federated cloud is undeniably the future of the hosting industry, and we're delighted to welcome SeFlow to our global network of clouds. OnApp is all about helping service providers to grow - firstly by providing a cloud management platform that makes it easy to sell hosting for a wide range of workloads; and secondly, by providing access to the global scale and geographic reach that smaller providers need to compete with the megahosts of the world - companies like Amazon, Microsoft and Google. The OnApp Federation is the world's biggest public cloud, with coverage in 113 cities and reach into locations that none of the big providers will ever cover. With every new provider that joins, we extend our leading global coverage even further, which benefits every member, and benefits all of their customers too."
As a member of the OnApp Federation, SeFlow also contributes capacity from its Milan datacenters to the global network of OnApp clouds, which gives other service providers access to high performance cloud infrastructure in Italy. SeFlow’s Milan sites can cater for 12,000 physical servers, offer 130Gbps of bandwidth, and have multiple redundant dedicated fiber links. SeFlow can now sell capacity at these highly resilient and high performance cloud locations to other OnApp cloud providers, via the OnApp Federation marketplace
