ZTE Corporation has launched a 400 gigabits per second (400G) optical transport network solution with the industry’s largest cross-connection capacity to help customers meet growing metropolitan area network (MAN) bandwidth requirements.

The new ZXONE 9700 S2 solution, launched at the PT/EXPO COMM CHINA conference in Beijing, is capable of providing as much as 9.2 terabits per second, cross-connection capacity, with packet optical transport network (OTN) capabilities to enhance bandwidth utilisation of MAN networks. The ZXONE 9700 S2 enables more flexible and intelligent networking, and supports the evolution to software-defined optical network (SDON).

"With industry-leading levels of optical-electrical integration, the ZXONE 9700 S2 can be deployed at the core or convergence layer in a MAN network to meet the increasingly urgent demand for a unified multi-service bearer,” said Xu Ming, Vice President of ZTE. “By making network layers simpler and operation and maintenance easier, the ZXONE 9700 S2 is the preferred solution for MAN networks.”
