SGI will widen customer access to SGI’s industry-leading in-memory computing solution, the SGI® UV™ 300H compute servers for the SAP HANA® platform, with Dell. This will help enable Dell to meet customer demands for running SAP HANA at extreme capacity, adding to Dell's existing portfolio for the SAP HANA platform in enterprise environments.
With increasing adoption of SAP HANA by large enterprises, the customer requirements for single-node architectures are growing. Partnering with Dell allows SGI to help joint customers capitalise on the scalability and simplicity of large scale, single-node systems. It is expected that the market for 8-socket or greater appliances running on SAP HANA will increase and be in excess of $1B by 2018.
The SGI UV™ 300H is a purpose-built, in-memory computing platform for large or growing environments running on SAP HANA. Using a differentiated, single-node architecture, the SGI appliance delivers outstanding performance to gain the business breakthroughs of SAP® Business Suite 4 SAP HANA (SAP S/4HANA) and other environments running on SAP HANA at extreme scale. The simplicity of the single-node system also helps enterprises optimise clustered systems management resources, helps to ensure high availability and allows enterprises to expand seamlessly with near-linear performance. The appliance is currently SAP-certified as a 4-, 8-, 12*-, or 16*-socket single-node system with up to 12TBs* of in-memory computing capacity.
“Companies running larger environments on SAP HANA need a simple way to use scale-up, single-node architectures for data analytics,” said Jim Ganthier, vice president & general manager of Engineered Solutions and Cloud at Dell. “By adding SGI’s UV solutions to our portfolio of solutions for SAP HANA, we are able to meet the performance, availability and technical requirements for SAP S/4HANA, the SAP Bank Analyzer set of applications and other transactional analytics applications.”
“By leveraging SGI’s unparalleled experience in scale-up architecture and Dell’s extensive data centre solutions running on SAP HANA and workload enablement expertise, our teams can quickly bring to market the most competitive solution for 8 sockets and above,” said Jorge Titinger, president and CEO, SGI. “Together, we enable a broad range of enterprise customers running SAP HANA to achieve real-time insight at ever-greater scale and lower total cost of ownership.”
