Zadara’s award–winning Virtual Private Storage Array™ (VPSA™) platform is now being offered as part of Steel ORCA’s storage–as–a–service offering.

As companies become more reliant on their exponentially growing data, they are recognising that the traditional approach – of purchasing large storage arrays and then managing and maintaining those complex devices – has become inefficient and will not scale. An increasing number of these companies are turning to the cloud to address this problem, and are quickly realizing the answer is not to exclusively deploy cloud or on-premise storage, but to use a hybrid model incorporating the best of both environments. Steel ORCA has selected Zadara Storage as its partner to offer a unified cloud and on-premise software defined storage (SDS) platform, powered by Zadara Storage VPSA. By offering an enterprise storage-as-a-service platform with a flexible, high performance pay-as-you-go model, Steel ORCA provides its customers a solution that addresses the scalability, manageability and the economic limitations of traditional storage arrays.

“Managing the Information Technology function is a challenge for any size business, as departmental requirements grow and shrink without notice, and internal customers expect immediate response,” says Larry Hess, CTO cloud services at Steel ORCA. “We developed Steel ORCA storage-as-a-service to address one of the most critical and costly challenges for corporate IT: digital information and inefficient data storage. In many markets, but particularly Healthcare, data storage demand is growing at such a pace that you can no longer be reactive. Steel ORCA storage-as-a-service, powered by Zadara Storage, gives control of this data sprawl back to our clients in an easy to use, cost effective, elastic, consumption-based pricing model.”

“We are thrilled to be adding Steel ORCA to our family of partners,” said Nelson Nahum, CEO of Zadara Storage. “Steel ORCA’s strong reputation for helping organizations improve their IT infrastructure to drive efficiencies and profitability make them an excellent partner for Zadara Storage. Steel ORCA is in a unique position to align our technology with customers who require agile, flexible storage services enabling users to focus on their core business rather than managing their data growth.”

“The enterprise storage market is following a well defined path that other common services have adopted over the past century,” said Frank Berry, CEO and senior analyst at IT Brand Pulse. “Much like the electricity and telephone services started as internally managed processes and ultimately became part of a utility grid, enterprise storage is moving out of the dark corners of the data center and becoming an as-a-service offering. By adding Zadara’s VPSA enterprise storage-as-a-service platform, Steel ORCA is well positioned as a technology leader and gives its customers a significant competitive advantage.
