Data Migration Program for SolarWinds and PRTG users

Migrates inventory, monitors, syslog/trap rules, users and other configuration data.

ManageEngine has introduced a migration tool in the latest version of OpManager, the company’s data centre management software for large enterprises. The migration tool enables network admins using SolarWinds and PRTG to try OpManager without starting from scratch. The tool migrates devices, monitors, syslog/trap rules, users and other data into OpManager in a short time thus enabling admins a clear position of choosing the best.

ManageEngine, a platinum sponsor of the event, is demonstrating the migration tool and the latest version of OpManager at Gartner IT Operations Strategies and Solutions Summit, being held 15th – 17th June 2015 in Orlando, Florida.

“Most network admins resist switching to another platform — even when it offers superior quality or better pricing — primarily because of the huge effort involved in redoing years of configuration,” said Dev Anand, director of product management at ManageEngine. “It’s like your mobile phone contacts list. The thought of re-entering all of those contacts into a new phone, from scratch, is daunting. Luckily, the mobile world offers cloud backup options that make migration easier. But in the network management domain, that problem hadn’t been solved — until our new migration tool arrived.”

With the OpManager migration tool, ManageEngine breaks down a key barrier that was preventing users from switching their network management tools. The new OpManager tool enables migration from competing products and offers rich APIs for the company’s own tools. Users who want to take data out of ManageEngine software will find it as easy as cloud backup. Reflecting its commitment to APIs, ManageEngine built the entire OpManager UI with its own APIs.

The OpManager migration tool is simple and easy to use. It requires just a few details, such as the name and port number of the database server where the competing product is running. The tool currently supports SolarWinds and PRTG as most of our migrating customers switch from these tools. The migration plan comes with a free, two-month license, so users can run OpManager and their current tool in parallel and make a side-by-side comparison of the two solutions. To encourage more users of competing products to switch to OpManager, ManageEngine is providing special discounts to such users.
