Datum supports ongoing expansion with two new additions to the operations team

Datum Datacentres has appointed Liam Mitchell as the new Data Centre Manager responsible for ensuring the continuing smooth running of Datum’s secure and resilient Farnborough facility. To further support the rapidly expanding Datum client base and the current build out of the new data hall, the engineering team will also be strengthened by the recent appointment of Thomas Gould as Data Centre Engineer.

With nearly 20 years in the data centre industry including 10 years of data centre management, Liam has a deep understanding of what makes a data centre tick. Having managed data centre and hosting services for ITV and Barclays Investment Bank, he understands the importance of availability and its potential impact on end users. His many strengths include a passion for getting it right first time, a belief in the importance of strong processes to minimise risk and a dedication to ensuring the data centre operation provides all Datum clients with the security and resilience they demand.

Liam comments: “Managing and co-ordinating data centre delivery as part of a managed service package has given me a real appreciation of the importance to our clients of transparency, proactive communication and confidentiality. Enterprise and service provider clients alike whose infrastructure is co-located within Datum Farnborough are not only safe in the knowledge that their IT is housed in a highly secure resilient facility, but also that we will support them with enhanced service management in order to keep them fully informed. I am delighted that we have been able to bring Thomas in to support our existing experienced engineering team. He is in the early stage of his data centre career but brings a background in data centre remote service response and customer liaison, as well as a very positive can-do attitude.”

Dominic Philips, Managing Director of Datum, adds, “We are delighted to welcome Liam and Thomas on board. When we launched Datum, we were determined to provide a stand-out service that would truly support our clients’ business and this has been validated by our selection by so many prestigious organisations as their co-location datacentre provider. Our Operations team is key to ensuring that we truly deliver the full package of enhanced security, resilience to 2N, carrier- and cloud- neutral connectivity, environmental efficiency and enterprise-class service management I am confident that with Liam’s guidance, our data centre will continue to exceed client expectations.”
