To help organisations successfully implement their big data initiatives by leveraging and integrating open source technologies, Think Big has expanded its big data consulting business into Europe with new offices in London, Dublin and Munich.
Think Big assists clients, across industries, to gain measurable business value from big data through implementation and integration of open source technologies such as Apache™ Hadoop®, Apache Spark™, and NoSQL databases (i.e. Apache HBase™, Apache Cassandra™, and MongoDB). Think Big embraces a range of vendor-neutral, open source options and recommends the best combination to complement existing, proven technologies based on each customer’s unique business needs.
“Hadoop and its fast-growing ecosystem of open source projects have quickly become first-class technology assets, regardless of the organisation’s size or geography,” said Rick Farnell, co-founder and senior vice president International, Think Big, a Teradata company. “Think Big’s international expansion will allow us to effectively share our expertise and support our customers. To support its growth, Think Big is aggressively recruiting talented individuals to fill a variety of positions in sales, data engineering, data science and project management.”
The first office to open will be in the London Bridge business district and be the hub for Think Big’s international operations. Farnell will be relocating to lead the expansion and ongoing business operations. Later this year, Think Big will also open an office in Munich and a solutions centre in Dublin. With its global expansion, Think Big will integrate the Dublin solution centre into its global solution centre capabilities and continue to open offices in major city hubs as part of its expansion plans. Since Think Big’s acquisition by Teradata, Think Big has also added a solution centre in Mumbai, India.
This expansion is the first step in Think Big’s plan to have an international presence modelled after parent company Teradata, which has customers in over 40 countries and a presence across Europe, Asia, and Australia. Think Big was acquired by Teradata last year in the wake of growing market demand for consulting services for big data, and systems integration between open source technologies and established platforms.
