Mendix and Pivotal partner

Mendix’s visual, no-code rapid development capabilities coupled with Pivotal Cloud Foundry helps customers drastically shorten time to deliver cloud-native applications.

Mendix and Pivotal have formed a partnership that brings Mendix’s no-code, rapid application development capabilities to Pivotal Cloud Foundry®, the leading enterprise Platform as a Service (PaaS), based on Cloud Foundry®. The partnership helps accelerate CIOs’ journey to modern IT by enabling business users to rapidly build applications with Mendix’s visual tools and easily deploy to production with Pivotal Cloud Foundry.

The accelerating pace of change driven by cloud, mobile and big data requires application delivery pipelines to be faster than ever, to support continuous delivery of new features. However, IT teams that rely on traditional development methods alone find they’re unable to keep pace with surging demand, resulting in growing backlogs and missed business opportunities.

Mendix and Pivotal are bringing a new level of speed and agility to the development and delivery of modern, cloud-native applications. Using Mendix’s point-and-click development capabilities, developers can rapidly build apps six times faster than traditional programming methods. With Pivotal Cloud Foundry, enterprises can now deploy these applications with ease to achieve secure, highly available and scalable operations. This means lines of business and IT teams can collaborate to ensure fast time to market and continuous innovation as required by today’s most demanding digital enterprises.

“Enterprises look to Pivotal to help them transform and drive disruptive growth opportunities in their industries,” said James Watters, vice president and general manager, Cloud Platform Group at Pivotal. “Mendix brings powerful rapid application development capabilities to Pivotal Cloud Foundry, further enhancing enterprise agility and accelerating continuous delivery of innovative business solutions.”

Seamless, End-to-End Application Delivery Lifecycle
To enable a seamless, end-to-end application delivery lifecycle, Mendix and Pivotal also announced:
- A Mendix Cloud Foundry buildpack that turns Mendix apps into Cloud Foundry Droplets. The buildpack is open source and available through the Cloud Foundry community repository on GitHub (https://github.com/cloudfoundry-community/cf-docs-contrib/wiki/Buildpacks).
- One-click deployment of Mendix apps to Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), PCF on AWS or Pivotal Web Services directly within the Mendix Business Modeler.
- Access to pre-built application components from the Mendix marketplace that accelerate the development of new apps.

Enabled by Leading Cloud Open Source Standards
The Mendix-Pivotal partnership builds upon the companies’ shared commitment to the Cloud Foundry open source PaaS. Mendix is a member of the Cloud Foundry Foundation, and is joining founding Platinum Member Pivotal in helping to advance the open standard. In addition, Mendix has developed an integration with the open PaaS framework that enables seamless deployment of Mendix apps to any Cloud Foundry-based stack, and provides customers and partners greater deployment flexibility and portability.

“Fueled by the growing momentum of the open-source Cloud Foundry movement, Mendix and Pivotal have delivered a powerful weapon for businesses looking to accelerate innovation and disrupt their markets,” said Derek Roos, CEO and co-founder of Mendix. “Together, we’re enabling high-velocity delivery of enterprise applications that automatically scale to the peak demands of the digital economy.”
