NTT Communications in Europe has announced its first partnership with Dell Corporation’s Global Services division. Under the partnership, NTT Com’s self-managed cloud solution, Enterprise Cloud and its Cloud enabled managed services capabilities will be incorporated into Dell branded Cloud Services made available to Dell customers worldwide under the Dell Cloud Services Partner Program. The arrangement affords Dell customers unprecedented levels of control over their cloud environments, the ability to roll out complex cloud ICT services globally, enhanced data security, and shorter application migrations, all on a pay-per-use basis with no upfront expenditure.

NTT Com’s Enterprise Cloud provides a very high level of end user control, harnessing its SDN (Software-Defined Networking) architecture. Enterprise Cloud is well suited to a wide range of applications, from big data processing and management to global ERP platforms. NTT Com certifications and accreditations in Europe on ISO 27001, PCI-DSS and ITIL based service management underpin customers’ compliance requirements and ensure a high service quality.

NTT Com Enterprise Cloud further allows customers to dictate exactly where applications and data are stored, as well as determining the permissions and privacy levels associated with each of them. The physical location of data is increasingly important to ICT decision-makers: according to global research carried out by NTT Com in 2014, almost nine out of ten agreed they are changing their cloud buying behaviour in the wake of Edward Snowden’s revelations of clandestine cyber-surveillance. Three out of ten ICT decision-makers agreed they are moving data to where the businesses know it will be safe. Dell’s Cloud Services strategy in EMEA is to work with global partners such as NTT and a series of local partners to provide choice to the customers in terms of location of cloud services. Dell itself and via its Cloud Partners are able to provide managed private, hybrid and public cloud on all leading cloud platforms and provide multi cloud management via Dell Cloud Manager and a suite of other tools. This agnostic approach to cloud platforms is a central part of the Dell strategy and is in response to customer feedback that companies want to use a range of cloud solutions for different enterprise applications and business units.

NTT Enterprise Cloud spans data centres in 13 cities across 10 countries and 3 continents, alongside a broader network and data centre presence spanning 196 countries. Dell and NTT Com’s combined offering is particularly well suited to European organisations with an international presence.

Nick Hyner, Director of Cloud Services for EMEA at Dell, said: “Partnering with NTT is a good strategic move for us, as it allows our customers to quickly tap into emerging markets and reap the benefits of a truly global cloud service. NTT will complement our Cloud Services Partner Program with its vertical expertise and extensive capability to manage a range of Cloud Infrastructure and Applications, along with its significant geographic reach.”

Damian Skendrovic, VP Cloud Services, NTT Europe, said “For global enterprises, migrating ICT infrastructure to the cloud involves grappling with a great deal of complexity. Our unique combination of leading-edge technology, global network infrastructure and in-depth application management know-how provides the perfect complement to Dell’s leadership in hardware and services. We’re looking forward to working closely with Dell to help its customers on their journey to the cloud.”
