Dyn has added significant new capabilities to its market-leading Dyn Internet Intelligence product. The capabilities, which include Cloud Vantage Points and Custom Vantage Points, will help companies, from Web SMBs to global enterprises, monitor, analyse and plan their Internet performance so they can deliver an exceptional experience for their end users.
Launched in September 2014, Dyn Internet Intelligence enables companies to monitor their Internet infrastructure, analyse their site’s global performance in real-time, and plan for performance improvements and geographic expansion. While other performance management products focus on internal networks and applications, Dyn Internet Intelligence provides insight across the entire breadth and depth of the global Internet ecosystem – data centres, transit providers, content delivery networks, and cloud service providers.
Since its launch, Dyn has more than doubled its global customer base, adding new companies, including 3Q Medien GmbH, the fastest growing German streaming CDN provider.
"The 3Q Stream Delivery Network provides powerful and reliable industry solutions for stream-based video, audio and TV content,” said Julius Thomas, CEO, of 3Q Medien GmbH. “Internet Performance is critical to our high-performance services. Dyn Internet Intelligence gives us pervasive Internet visibility with over a billion daily measurements, real-time route troubleshooting and historic performance analysis to provide our customers with the best media experience possible."
As global cloud adoption continues to rise, having real-time Internet visibility is becoming a business necessity. Gartner recently reported that 70 percent of enterprises planned to implement new applications or services in the cloud in 2015. The increasing reliance on the cloud for mission-critical, customer-facing applications means the ability to monitor and analyse cloud provider performance is critical. Dyn’s new Cloud Vantage Points allow companies immediate visibility into critical performance data for major cloud providers, including all sites for Amazon Web Services, Rackspace, DigitalOcean and Google Cloud, with support for additional cloud providers planned.
While there is great value in monitoring the performance of a company’s current cloud providers, planning for future cloud expansion is equally important. Each cloud provider has different locations and different connections to the Internet, Dyn Internet Intelligence allows companies to visualise and predict how their current and potential cloud providers will perform outside of their current configuration. It helps to ensure the right investments are made as companies plan for global expansion or look to bring on new providers.
“We all know there are many benefits to putting your infrastructure in the cloud. One of the perceived drawbacks, however, is a loss of control. How do companies ensure they are getting what they want out of their cloud providers?” said Scott Hilton, Dyn EVP, Products. “Dyn Internet Intelligence arms companies with the ability to make adjustments to their cloud accordingly, helping them make smarter, more strategic decisions about their cloud providers. Obtaining this visibility enables businesses to monitor and work around any issues to ensure that their cloud configuration can maximise business potential.”
Custom Vantage Points
Companies also want to extend the visibility provided by Dyn Internet Intelligence’s network of hundreds of vantage points to specific locations within their networks.
That is why Dyn is now offering virtual machine-based Custom Vantage Points that can be installed directly within customers’ networks. Employing Dyn’s Custom Vantage Points gives customers better end-to-end insight into how their data centres and applications are connected to the Internet and cloud service providers. Additionally, it will enable companies to make better planning decisions on where data centres should be located, which Internet transit providers they should connect and how to best serve multiple geographies and target markets.
