IndependenceIT expands management team

IndependenceIT, an integrated software platform provider allowing IT departments, service providers and ISVs to easily deliver workspaces, applications and desktops as a service, has announced three key appointments to the company’s management team.

Mark Prestipino has joined IndependenceIT’s executive team as chief operating officer, Michael Walsh now leads the engineering team as executive vice president of products and engineering and Scott Markley has been promoted to senior vice president of sales. The new senior leaders come aboard as IndependenceIT continues to increase market traction with its flagship software solution, Cloud Workspace® Suite (CWS).

IndependenceIT CWS is an innovative solution that combines application, end-user and infrastructure management into a seamless, easy-to-manage platform. The software is recognized by industry analysts and customers for its unified management interface and robust API for ease of integration with existing systems. Unique among alternative solutions, IndependenceIT’s software simplifies deployment and increases responsiveness of cloud workspace services deployed by IT departments, service providers and ISVs, increasing business agility and productivity.

“IndependenceIT is expanding its position in the workspace-as-a-service category as more IT departments, IT service providers and their customers benefit from the automation and workflow of our software platform,” said Seth Bostock, CEO of IndependenceIT. “We are helping to further that mission with today’s announcement of three senior executives whose proven track records define their successes. We are proud to have them onboard to drive operations, engineering and sales as our company outpaces the market.”

A veteran of the software industry, Prestipino brings more than 30 years of experience in global operations, organizational development, and quality control. In his new role as COO, he will oversee the company’s operational strategy and business growth. He has successfully managed companies at all stages of development in both public and private markets, and has an extensive track record of building strong teams, channels, and partnerships.

Before joining IndependenceIT, Prestipino was president and CEO of Envista Corporation, where he led the company’s strategic direction and business operations. Prior to joining Envista, Prestipino served as president and CEO of Scribe Software, where he executed a successful turnaround and growth plan for the company, and its acquisition. Before Scribe Software, he held senior management positions, including director of worldwide IT operations for Autodesk and director of worldwide operations for Softdesk.

Michael Walsh joins IndependenceIT as executive vice president of products and engineering. Previously, he served as chief information officer of OmniEarth where he managed engineering and product development. Walsh has also served as a vice president of product management at IRISmaps, Envista, and smartea.ms Inc. (formerly Anagraph Medical Solutions). Other past positions include director of information technology at ApplQ and chief information officer at Revit Technology Corporation. In his new position at IndependenceIT, Walsh will be responsible for strategic product development.

“These exceptional executives with proven leadership records span a range of technology solutions geared toward the enterprise,” said Bostock. “With their experience leading and managing fast-growing businesses, they will enhance our team as the company expands both domestically and abroad.”

Scott Markley joined IndependenceIT’s sales organization in 2011 and was elevated to the company’s director of training and director of business development shortly thereafter. In his new role as senior vice president of sales, Markley will be responsible for the company’s go-to-market strategy and sales operations. While director of business development, Markley managed IndependenceIT's software sales team in delivering the company’s cloud agnostic services enablement platform to service providers globally.

“These executives have been influential leaders in their respective areas of business,” said Bostock. “With industry trends forecasting increasing adoption of cloud computing solutions by organizations worldwide, including cloud-based workspaces, our team of industry veterans will strengthen the company’s position in support of technology and business objectives.”
