High performance combined with low profile

Draka’s slim line Cat6 communications cable was the solution of choice when specialist contractors Security Services were charged with installing communications cabling in the redevelopment and extension of Abbey Hill School based in Stoke-on-Trent.

The new school building required a fully integrated Cat6 structured cabling system that would provide the required high performance. Draka’s UK manufactured Cat6 HD cable was the preferred option and a simple choice for Security Services thanks to the slim profile of the cable. It has a cross-sectional area of approximately 25% less than standard Cat6 cabling allowing high capacity cable to be installed in minimal space.

A total of 738 data points were installed in the new building of the school that comprises classrooms, a range of sensory rooms and a recording studio.

Security Services, as well as specifying the Draka products, was charged with installation which included the use of Draka modules, faceplates and patch panels.

Main electrical Contractors Sheppard Engineering Services called in Security Services who value the high performance of the Draka manufactured Cat6 cable. Engineering and Project Manager at Security Services Group, Dave Critchley said Draka products were an easy choice for the school project.

“We at Security Services specified the Draka Products because of the high quality of the cable and the components. The installation was completed on time and on budget and we would definitely use Draka products again in the future,” Mr Critchley said.

Cable supplier Dunasfern recommend the solution based Cat6 cabling system from Draka, a trusted brand in the market, because of the convenience of a low-profile high-performance cable system.
