Nick Phillips joins NG Bailey with over 20 years’ experience in the engineering services industry, including previous roles at BAA, Capgemini, Ernst & Young and British Airways. Nick’s appointment is part of the company’s plan to stay at the forefront of innovation in critical environments, which includes the data centre arena.
“The UK data centre market is in buoyant form as more companies migrate to the cloud, so now is the perfect time to bolster our position in this field,” comments Nick. “NG Bailey is one of the UK’s quintessential data centre providers, with more than £300m of specialist data centre work to its name. I’m delighted to be joining the firm at such an exciting time in its growth.”
Nick brings to NG Bailey a wealth of critical environment and data centre experience gained through the delivery of facilities services in a wide range of sectors. He will work alongside the company’s data centre director, Steven Wiles, who himself has eight years’ experience in the field having worked for companies including Laing O’Rourke, Crown House Technologies and Axima Building Services.
According to Frost & Sullivan, the European data centre market will see annual growth of 16% to 2018, thanks to the growth in enterprise cloud computing, content-heavy applications, and machine-to-machine (M2M) connectivity. The UK, together with Germany, France and the Benelux offer the biggest market opportunities.
“NG Bailey has a renowned, national reputation for quality workmanship and best practice,” adds Nick. “Part of my role will be to ensure we continue to deliver at this level as the data centre business expands.
“My role will also focus on our delivery into other critical environments including process industries.”
Sean Wickens, the group’s business development director, adds: “We have ambitious plans for expansion in this growth market, but understand that we must invest in order to scale without sacrificing quality of service. Nick’s a big part of that plan and we heartily welcome him to the team.”
