As NTT Com Security goes from strength to strength, the information security and risk management company has announced that Peter Cunningham has joined as SVP Northern Europe. The appointment of the senior and experienced IT industry executive is part of a wider business strategy to encourage organic growth and make further acquisitions on the back of the company’s recent European acquisitions of BDG and InfoTrust.
As SVP Northern Europe, Peter will be responsible for leading the continued growth of NTT Com Security in the UK, Nordics and Benelux through his proven strategic and tactical skills. He has over 25 years’ experience in the IT industry with a global track record of building and managing high performance teams from different cultures covering the entire scale of IT. Peter held senior roles at McAfee and Sun Microsystems as well as at global air transport solutions provider SITA, leading major business transformation initiatives. Most recently he was CEO at Olton, where he created a unique intelligence software product and analyst consulting business.
Commenting on his role, Peter Cunningham said: “With the scale of security and defence challenges greater than ever before, NTT Com Security is in a unique position to expand the business in Northern Europe by providing complete best-of-breed integrated security solutions and expertise. As soon as I met the team, I knew I would be working with talented people at a company with great heritage and commitment to helping businesses take data security more seriously. My previous experience will enable me to push the company’s value added services as well as communicate the direction of the business to internal staff and leverage core partners of the business.”
“It’s an exciting time for us,” said Simon Church, CEO at NTT Com Security. “We are seeing an increased awareness of information security and risk management, which is why we are boosting our senior leadership team in the UK, Nordics and Benelux. The role of SVP Northern Europe is a critical one and Peter fits the role perfectly. His industry knowledge and experience in rapid growth enterprises will enable us to take our Northern European business to the next level and complements our international growth strategy.”
The appointment of Peter also reinforces NTT Com Security’s commitment to increasing the awareness of information security across the globe, and moving the data security dial to ‘vital’. There is still a way to go, however, as the Risk:Value report recently revealed. Last month, NTT Com Security announced that, while 63% of businesses expect to suffer a security breach at some point, only 9% see ‘poor data security’ as the greatest risk to their business.
Simon continued: “Most business decision makers are not primarily concerned with the technology challenges faced by their organisations. As an industry, we need to be smarter at educating businesses about the wider implications of data breaches. We are confident that Peter will help drive that step change in Northern Europe, so that data security becomes an essential part of a company’s overall risk posture.”
