Greater device visibility and management

Webroot has announced updates to Webroot SecureAnywhere® Business Mobile Protection. As more employees rely on their mobile devices for both personal and professional activities, the risk of mobile malware and unsafe applications presents challenges for organisations. A recent Harris survey showed that 60 percent of those using a mobile device for business have either no security or just the default features set on the phone.

Webroot’s enhancements allow managed service providers (MSPs) and information technology (IT) administrators insight into applications installed across all mobile devices under IT management. The latest edition of Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Mobile Protection includes visibility into employees’ risky mobile application behaviour. This enables enterprise-level visibility into mobile applications installed across businesses of all sizes, as well as insight into the specific security risks associated with those applications. Webroot also offers a new iOS® app to provide essential security for iPhones and iPads and includes lost device protection for the more than 800 million iOS devices currently in use.

“Our approach to mobile device protection is focused on providing actionable security information to assist businesses in keeping their network and corporate data secure,” said Mike Malloy, executive vice president of products and strategy at Webroot. “We have taken an easier-to-manage, yet powerful cloud-based approach to mobile protection which keeps users safe without burdening admins with heavy management requirements. Businesses must invest in a mobile security strategy that protects their corporate data but also provides a seamless user experience for employees.”

Application Reputation Categorisation
According to Gartner, more than 75 percent of mobile applications will fail basic security tests through 2015. To protect businesses, Webroot customers now have visibility into every application downloaded on devices being protected by Webroot security. Utilising the Webroot® Mobile App Reputation Service, each application is classified by name, version, category and reputation – from malicious to trustworthy – allowing immediate identification of potential threats. This premium, enterprise-level service is now available to business customers at no additional cost with every Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Mobile Protection subscription.

iOS App for Essential Security
Rather than rely on standard Apple iOS device management capabilities to protect devices, Webroot’s new iOS app introduces additional functionality for lost device protection that allows customers to remotely locate an Apple mobile device, make the device scream and lock or wipe the device if it’s misplaced or stolen. Webroot customers now have more security options to protect their business from the growing number of mobile threats.

Mobile Information Management
Device Information Visibility provides Webroot customers deep insight into the location and security status of the mobile devices they manage, without interrupting the user, including indicators of devices with security risks and whether a device has been compromised. The addition of app visibility and reputation brings enterprise-level information to businesses at all levels. Webroot customers are armed with the information to proactively minimise risks, maintain compliance with corporate BYOD policies and protect the multitude of mobile devices connected to the enterprise network.
