Telefilm Canada selects Appian Cloud

Telefilm Canada, a federal cultural agency dedicated to the cultural, commercial and industrial success of Canada's audiovisual industry, has selected Appian Cloud as its platform for the delivery of modern business applications. Appian Cloud's combination of process management, data management, social collaboration, and native mobility will help Telefilm accelerate smart decision-making in the Investments Management process while also making it easier and more engaging for investment applicants.

Telefilm's first Appian project is for the management of the organization's Micro-Budget Production Program. This program targets emerging Canadian talent, supporting them in the production and promotion of their first feature-length film, with an emphasis on the use of digital platforms for marketing, distribution and audience engagement.

Telefilm Canada will use Appian's user-friendly social interface as both the applicant-facing and employee-facing point of engagement. Through automation, system intelligence, and easy collaboration, Appian will facilitate every step of the grant process, from routing applications to making recommendations, drafting contracts and completing financial transactions. Appian's Records capability will serve as an "applicant management tool," providing all users (based on security privileges) with an accurate and transparent view into the status of each application in the system. Each applicant will serve as its own Record, as well as each individual application, allowing real-time access to data for analysis and history of previous submissions. The Appian solution will integrate with an existing Oracle financial system, using Appian business rules to add new levels of security and fraud prevention safeguards. Appian will also automatically provide all of the audit trails required for Telefilm reporting back to the Canadian Government.

"Telefilm Canada's selection of Appian demonstrates the value organizations place on readily available access to data and intuitive collaboration that allows employees to be fully connected to core business areas," said Matt Calkins, President and CEO at Appian. "Using Appian, Telefilm Canada has a single application platform to enhance critical program performance while better-engaging with its large pools of applicants."
