Green Philosophy
“We are building a green data centre which is optimised for the Arctic climate and exclusively uses locally generated hydro-electric power.” said Paul Morrison, Business Development Director. “The data centre is being built with the aim of producing the lowest possible carbon footprint throughout construction as well as operation.”
The data centre is less than 500m from a hydro power station and directly adjacent to a new 120MW substation.

The facility will support high power density computing equipment of the type increasingly demanded by corporate IT leaders. Data centre clients will further benefit from being located at the intersection of 4 different regional power grid feeders giving unparalleled scalability, resilience and diversity.
Sweden is rated as the 4th most Internet connected country in the world and the data centre will have multiple low latency routes into all key European connectivity hubs.
Low Cost
“The annual mean temperature of -1.3°C at the edge of the Arctic Circle is a unique opportunity to utilise natural cooling methods for the ultra-efficient design. This combined with some of the lowest input costs for energy in Europe means high quality, low cost, green data centre services are within reach of enterprise IT teams for the first time” added Morrison.
The data centre RFS date is May 2015 with significant expansion planned over the next decade.
