OGL Computer certifies against the CIF Code of Practice

IT support and solutions provider becomes latest CSP to achieve best practice accreditation.

OGL Computer, a leading provider of IT solutions has successfully certified against the Cloud Industry Forum’s (CIF) Code of Practice, demonstrating its commitment to transparency, accountability and capability in the provision of cloud services.

Based in the West Midlands, OGL Computer provides premier IT support and leading edge IT solutions to over 1,000 organisations large and small throughout the UK, including a wide range of hosted services, IT hardware provision and installation, disaster recovery and data backup, business continuity, and IT security.
Paul Colwell, Technical Director at OGL Computer said: “We consider ourselves to be a very trustworthy and credible Cloud Services Provider (CSP) and take enormous care to ensure that our customers’ data is managed safely and securely. We wanted to self-certify against the Code of Practice to gain third party assurance that we really were meeting the most stringent industry standards so that customers didn’t have to just take our word for it. The accreditation offers our customers and prospects an extra level of reassurance that OGL is a fully capable, accountable and trustworthy company.

“We believe that the biggest benefit for us from certifying is that we now have a way to demonstrate to customers that we have the same strength and resilience as the ‘big boys’ in the marketplace. We believe that the Code of Practice enhances our market offer, and will help to give us an extra edge over CSPs that haven’t certified,” he continued.

The Code of Practice is a credible, certifiable tool that allows CSPs to demonstrate that they meet specified requirements of transparency, accountability and capability, as prescribed by CIF. It aims to standardise enterprises offering cloud services to provide clarity, transparency and assurance to end users seeking to migrate to the cloud.

Richard Pharro, CEO of APM Group, CIF’s independent certification partner, added: “The CIF Code of Practice is all about building trust in the cloud industry between cloud users and cloud suppliers. Organisations seeking to use cloud services need a straightforward way to qualify potential suppliers that will accurately define the services offered and standards of operations and security. We are very pleased to see OGL Computer join the growing ranks of CSPs that have already certified against the Code of Practice, and we would like to congratulate them.”
