Law firm deploys Meru 802.11ac Wi-Fi

Gigabit wireless supports Microsoft Lync for 4,000 mobile workers across Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Meru Networks has announced that corporate law firm Eversheds LLP has deployed a Meru 802.11ac wireless network to support its mobility strategy enabling flexible working and increased collaboration. The network has been deployed across eight countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia to support up to 4,000 staff, clients and guests.

The wireless network will support the firm’s recent deployment of Microsoft Lync, which provides instant online conferencing, including voice, video and shared content, allowing staff to easily and quickly share knowledge, ideas and content with colleagues and clients.

“Eversheds is in the process of moving to a more agile working model and it is important that we have the best wireless network,” said David Ball, Head of IT at Eversheds. “Our previous Wi-Fi was no longer fit for corporate use, as it restricted the way staff worked and communicated while on the go. With Meru, we're already seeing a huge difference in speed, performance and capacity.”

The global Gigabit Wi-Fi deployment encourages collaboration, improves efficiency of meeting spaces and creates more flexible work styles at Eversheds offices. Eversheds’ staff also use the Wi-Fi for real-time time recording and document management.

Designed and implemented by Meru gold partner Building Zones, the wireless network includes 270 Meru AP832 access points. Each office is served by one of six regional hubs hosting a virtual Meru controller along with Meru Network Manager to provide end-to-end management and network monitoring capabilities.

“The Meru solution for Eversheds was designed to maximise the user experience and to future-proof its wireless network for years to come,” said Jason Green, managing director for Building Zones. “Meru is renowned for its innovative approach to delivering high quality. The introduction of the new 802.11ac standard meant we could offer the perfect combination of speed, performance and capacity.”

“As an international firm operating in a highly competitive industry, Eversheds needs impressive speeds and seamless networking to support its mobile workforce,” added Mark Howell, regional sales director for UK and Ireland at Meru. “Meru 802.11ac was able to meet their needs, building on our strong foundation of high quality and high performance.”
