Alfresco fuels digital enterprise with Hybrid ECM Platform release

Alfresco Software announces a product innovation targeted at helping IT and business users thrive in the ‘Era of the Digital Enterprise’. Content, process and collaboration are at the heart of reinventing work in the digital world. With the release of Alfresco One Enterprise 5.0 and Alfresco Activiti Enterprise, Alfresco enables IT and business users with the next generation enterprise content management (ECM) platform and tools to bring greater employee engagement and operational efficiency for today’s digital evolution.

According to Gartner, “Digital business is about people either using or considering to use the Web as the main business public thoroughfare and marketplace. ECM needs to be reinvented for this new ‘place’ and ‘pace’ of business.”

Business and operational models from the 20th century no longer scale as traditional enterprises face exponential growth in information, activity and connections. “Today’s digital enterprise will integrate information, processes, work and people to collaborate more efficiently and effectively to produce more valuable products and services,” said John Newton, CTO and Co-Founder of Alfresco Software. “It’s our responsibility to deliver simple and smart ECM business process solutions that contribute to a happy workplace and build a productive enterprise.“

Alfresco One Enterprise 5.0
Alfresco One Enterprise 5.0 is the most advanced release to date of Alfresco’s flagship ECM platform. It delivers a set of enhancements and modules targeted at increasing end user engagement and empowering IT to be more productive, while also making smarter decisions regarding business-critical processes and content.
Most legacy ECM implementations fail due to lack of adoption across the enterprise. Most importantly they lack the secure, collaborative and mobile capabilities required by today’s business user. Alfresco’s successful adoption rate, with over 1800 scalable customer implementations, is predicated on its relentless focus to design a platform with the business end users in mind. It also delivers the security, performance and scalability IT / administrators expect of an enterprise-grade ECM platform.

Key enhancements in Alfresco One 5.0 include:
· Seamless integration with Microsoft Office applications and Outlook email clients places Alfresco directly in the user’s workflow
· New live search capabilities with dynamic and filtered results help users easily find exactly what they need, when they need it.
· High-fidelity HTML5 previews with live interactive text makes it easy to see what you are looking for, consistently across devices.
· Reporting and analytics deliver insights on content usage, workflow efficiencies and user activities.
· Hundreds of enhancements and platform updates have been implemented, including SOLR4, CMIS 1.1, content encryption, scalability features, hierarchical storage optimisations, administrative and deployment tools.

Alfresco Activiti Enterprise
Following on its initial release of Alfresco Activiti Enterprise in May of this year, Alfresco has also enhanced its business process management (BPM) platform in order to provide maximum agility to enterprises, whether they are creating new business processes or re-engineering old manual or inefficient ones. The latest version of Alfresco Activiti Enterprise empowers less technical business users to play a role in process design and management.

Features in this release include:
· Simple step-based process design with drag-and-drop forms designer and library
· Collaborative business process management with the Tasks app
· Easy process packaging and deployment with Process apps
· Process Analytics providing process statistics and performance reports

These end-user features are bundled into a tablet-friendly web application, which in conjunction with the Alfresco Activiti Administrator, Editor and Engine, form a full BPM suite. This suite is available as a service, through a true multi-tenant hosted offering from Alfresco, or as an on-premise offering with a range of editions. This includes an on-premise multi-tenant edition to allow large organisations to manage their BPM needs as an internal software as a service (SaaS).
