Violin Memory announces 6100 All Flash Array,

All Flash Array performance leader breaks $100,000 street price.

Violin Memory®, Inc. has announced worldwide availability of three new 6100 All Flash Array models and an innovative, flexible pricing model that breaks the $100,000 street price and enables customers to align their storage investment with capacity as it is consumed. Leveraging a cost-optimised version of Violin’s Flash Fabric ArchitectureTM, and the latest generation of 19 nanometer flash technology, the Violin 6100 All Flash Arrays provide a best-in-class performance-to-cost ratio for mid-market/small enterprises and departmentallevel applications deployments in global enterprises.

For Violin Memory authorised resellers and their end-users, this offering addresses the need for all-flash storage solutions that meet the capacity requirements of smaller enterprise and mid-market business-critical applications with the Violin 6100 All Flash Arrays. In addition, the available capacity footprints allow end-users to buy for today’s needs and cost effectively expand as their application and business needs grow.

Violin’s “pay-as-you-grow”flexible pricing model provides a unique software license-based capacity expansion option, delivering automatic scaling of capacity without having to order and install additional capacity ahead of real needs. This enables customers to more closely align CAPEX with the capacity utilised on the Violin 6100 and 6200 series All Flash Arrays, while minimising up-front capital investment. The new “pay-as- you-grow” solutions non-disruptively scale in increments from 17TB to 35TB on the 6100 All Flash Array or 52TB to 70TB for the 6200 All Flash Array based on application anddeployment requirements.

The Violin 6100 All Flash Array product family designed for smaller enterprises and targeted applications within large and global enterprises start at 17.5TB and grow to 26TB or 35TB. This flexibility allows customers to control their capital expenditures to more closely match theirapplication requirements. The new entry points address the market need for lower raw capacity all-flash offerings, while delivering enterprise-class resiliency and performance.

“Violin is reaching out to a broader customer and application set with the 6100 All Flash Array,” said Eric Herzog, CMO of Violin Memory. “Smaller enterprises and more focused deployments within large and global enterprises can now benefit from Violin performance, density, and scalability without the upfront investments needed for larger environments.”
