Ymens and NEC announce partner to develop trustworthy government cloud services for Romania

Ymens and NEC Corporation have announced a partnership to develop government cloud services for Romania. Combining Ymens’ in-depth expertise in providing cloud solutions and services in the local market and NEC’s robust, secure and proven cloud platform technologies will result in the development of trustworthy cloud services for governmental institutions, which comply with the European Commission’s Trusted Cloud Europe framework.

Government cloud services have the potential to facilitate the procurement process for public sector buyers from both an IT and business perspective. Cloud computing provides flexibility through its subscription-based model, enabling services to be up-scaled or hibernated in line with staffing levels, demand from end-users or changes to the government’s spending priorities. The government cloud can help public authorities reduce procurement cycles and enable end users to benefit from new business solutions. This also translates in a faster upgrade cycle while reducing direct expenditure by governments on IT infrastructure.

Under this partnership, Ymens and NEC are building out their Software as a Service (SaaS) platform to offer specialized public sector solutions for boosting service delivery levels for citizens while helping national and local government departments in the cost cutting process. The SaaS platform will be developed with NEC’s Cloud Brokerage Suite, which is already used by more than 20 telecom operators worldwide to provide cloud services to their customers.

Ymens, as the first cloud broker in Romania, has provided a wide array of cloud solutions to address specific needs of both the public and private sectors in the country. A variety of those solutions, as well as other government cloud services, will be delivered from the new integrated SaaS platform.

Naoki Iizuka, President and CEO, NEC Europe: “Governments across Europe are adopting ‘digital by default’ strategies to improve access to services for citizens and information sharing. In tandem, the public sector is increasingly taking a ‘cloud-first’ strategy where possible to reduce costs and increase business agility. NEC’s global SaaS expertise and Ymens’ local delivery track record provide a winning combination to help the Romanian public sector adopt a cloud strategy in a secure, robust and cost-effective way.”
