Unitrends sets ‘new standard’ for Virtual Backup and Recovery

Unitrends has announced the availability of Unitrends Virtual Backup (UVB) 8.0, said to be the only purpose-built virtual appliance providing hypervisor-level protection for VMware®, Microsoft® and Citrix®. UVB 8.0 delivers more than 140 enhancements that provide unequaled ease-of-use and major boosts to backup, archiving and replication performance, including up to eight times faster offsite backups. Featuring patent-pending Hyper-V backup capabilities, UVB 8.0 performs backups 50 times faster than the free edition, and with unsurpassed reliability.

This new release also introduces a new, polished Web-based user interface (UI) as well as Unitrends’ Intelligent Optimization™, built-in intelligence based on industry best practices that automatically optimises every step in the backup and recovery process, from expediting installation and daily backup management to full site recovery. UVB’s unified Web-based management capabilities and single dashboard enable organisations to assess entire onsite and offsite backup environments at-a-glance.

Formerly known as PHD Virtual Backup, this Unitrends product release features performance and management enhancements that radically simplify virtual data protection, speed backup and recovery, and allow organisations to back up entire multi-hypervisor environments in just four mouse clicks. With UVB 8.0, backup and recovery can be performed up to 20 times faster, using 66 percent less storage space and 75 percent less virtual resources than competing systems—at the industry’s lowest total cost of ownership.

Beyond equipping organisations with full-featured, high-performance backup, UVB 8.0 enables them to cost-effectively guarantee recovery within their service level agreements.
